Zelenskyy at Ramstein: Results on Ballistic Missile Defense Must Be Presented by Winter

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the countries participating in the anti-ballistic coalition must demonstrate tangible results of their joint efforts by the start of winter.

According to the president, Ukraine and Germany have already signed a cooperation agreement between defense companies to develop anti-ballistic technologies.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian and German companies have the necessary expertise to create modern systems to counter ballistic missiles.

The president emphasized that Russia continues to actively use ballistic missiles, which is why Ukraine needs an effective anti-ballistic defense system.

At the same time, he highlighted successes in countering drones: according to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces are already intercepting about 90% of enemy drones.

Ukraine is also effectively countering cruise missiles, but ballistic missiles remain one of the main threats.

Ukraine may also receive 62 F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets. This refers to the potential transfer to Ukraine of F/A-18 Hornet fighters in the C (55 aircraft) and D (7 aircraft) variants, which are currently in service with the Finnish Air Force and are gradually being phased out. Experts are assessing the likelihood of such a transfer and its impact on strengthening Ukraine’s air force.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would allocate part of the 90 billion euro financial aid package from the European Union to defense needs, specifically for the purchase of Gripen fighter jets from Sweden. According to the head of state, the funding will help strengthen Ukraine’s defense and modernize its air power capabilities.
