Zelenskyy has updated the membership of the Shevchenko Prize Committee
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the new membership of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. The corresponding decree, No. 586/2026, has already entered into force.
Actor Yevhen Nyshchuk has been appointed chair of the committee. The new membership also includes prominent figures from the fields of culture, art, literature, architecture, and journalism.
The committee members are:
- Yevhen Nyshchuk – actor, committee chair;
- Vyacheslav Balbek – architect, designer;
- Ksenia Vasilenko (Sonya Koshkina)—journalist, TV host;
- Olga Vieru – director of the state enterprise “Ukrainian House”;
- Andriy Donchik – film director, CEO of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio;
- Alla Zagaykevych – composer, winner of the Shevchenko Prize;
- Viktor Zotov – architect;
- Anatoliy Kryvolap – artist, winner of the Shevchenko Prize;
- Andriy Lyubka – poet, essayist, translator;
- Yevhen Maloletka – photographer, winner of the Shevchenko Prize;
- Olesya Mudrak – writer, translator;
- Bogdana Pivnenko – violinist, Shevchenko Prize laureate;
- Oleksandr Sanin – film director, actor, and Shevchenko Prize laureate;
- Rostyslav Semkiv – literary scholar, writer, translator;
- Serhiy Trymbach – film scholar, screenwriter, and winner of the Shevchenko Prize;
- Dmytro Chystiak – writer, literary scholar;
- Yevhen Shevchenko – art historian, chair of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine;
- Hanna Sherman – theater scholar, journalist;
- Lyubov Yakymchuk – writer, screenwriter.
In addition to updating the committee’s membership, Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced a new category for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine: “Architectural Art.”
Previously, architectural projects could only be nominated for the award within the “Visual Arts” or “Design” categories.
From now on, “Architectural Art” has become a separate, full-fledged category, which will allow for the recognition of the best achievements of Ukrainian architects within the framework of the highest state award in the field of culture and the arts.
On January 20, the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine announced the literary and artistic works that will compete in the final round of the competition.
