Zelenskyy congratulated Sweden on its National Day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his greetings to the people of Sweden on the occasion of the country’s National Day. The head of state wished the Swedish people peace, prosperity, and continued progress, and expressed his gratitude for their support of Ukraine.

"I congratulate Sweden, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and the entire Swedish people on their National Day. The Ukrainian people will always remember the significant contribution Sweden has made to the defense of our country and all of Europe," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He thanked the Swedes for their support, for every aid package, and especially for strengthening Ukraine’s combat aviation.

"We are doing our utmost to ensure that the Swedish Gripen fighters reinforce the Ukrainian skies as soon as possible. It is precisely this unity and joint work with our partners that are needed to bring an end to the Russian war. We wish Sweden peace and continued development!" the President emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, on May 28, Sweden allocated a $2.7 billion support package to Ukraine, which includes funds for drone production—nearly $400 million—as well as the transfer of Gripen fighter jets.

In particular, the Swedish government approved the purchase of up to 20 Gripen E/F fighter jets for Ukraine through the EU’s Ukraine Support Loan mechanism, after which it also plans to transfer 16 Gripen C/D jets as part of bilateral aid.

He wrote about this on social media.

Zelenskyy published an open letter to Putin – full text.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
