Zelenskyy honored 551 defenders of Ukraine with state awards
The President of Ukraine has signed an official decree awarding 551 military personnel who demonstrated exceptional bravery while defending the country.
These high state honors are intended for soldiers who selflessly fulfill their duty in the hottest spots on the front lines.
Unfortunately, a significant portion of these awards are tragic, as 244 defenders received recognition for their service posthumously.
The relevant document, No. 306/2026, has already been officially published on the head of state’s web portal for public review.
According to the text of the decree, the awards were granted “for personal courage demonstrated in the defense of Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the selfless fulfillment of military duty.”
Among the list of honors awarded to the defenders are the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Danylo Halytsky. A large number of servicemen were also awarded the Order “For Courage,” which symbolizes exceptional bravery in battle.
In addition to the orders, the decree provides for the awarding of the medals “For Military Service to Ukraine” and “Defender of the Fatherland.”
