Zelenskyy stated that territorial concessions for the sake of peace with Russia are out of the question

Ukraine cannot cede any of its territories, as this would only strengthen the aggressor’s position and create conditions for further occupation.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the AP. The head of state emphasized that Russia’s demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops are driven by the occupiers’ massive losses, which they are trying to halt through ultimatums rather than genuine compromises.

The president expressed his conviction that the Russians are seeking the complete occupation of Ukraine and are manipulating negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump. According to Zelenskyy, the primary task is to stop the enemy, achieve a ceasefire, and establish reliable security guarantees, after which the process must move to the diplomatic level. Zelenskyy’s visit to Damascus on the same day underscores Ukrainian diplomacy’s efforts to seek support and stability on the international stage. Currently, Russia continues to ignore calls for a just peace, focusing instead on attempts to break through the front lines.

The U.S. mediation process in resolving the Russian war against Ukraine is under threat due to Donald Trump’s loss of interest in the negotiations and the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the need for a personal meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump due to a number of critical issues that require urgent progress.
