Zelenskyy has spoken out against the creation of a Ukrainian ballistics agency
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is continuing to develop its own ballistic missiles, but is facing opposition not only from Russia but also from certain partner countries.
The head of state spoke about this during a televised marathon.
According to Zelenskyy, the reluctance of some countries to see Ukraine among the manufacturers of ballistic weapons is primarily linked to competition in the global arms market.
“It is not only Russia that does not want Ukrainian ballistic missiles. Russia—for obvious reasons. The reason lies in business, in competition,” the president noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine intends to complete the development of its own ballistic missiles and is simultaneously working on creating defense systems against ballistic threats.
Zelenskyy also announced progress on the European anti-ballistic system project. Sweden has become the first major partner in this area, with relevant agreements already reached.
According to the president, they plan to involve other partners in the initiative, and practical work on creating the system could begin as early as this fall. Currently, only a few countries in the world have their own anti-ballistic systems, including the U.S., China, India, Russia, Iran, and Israel.
