Zheleznyak called for the resignation of DBR Director Sukhachov

People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak called for the immediate dismissal of Oleksiy Sukhachov, director of the State Bureau of Investigations, following the publication of a journalistic investigation into apartments owned by his brother.

According to Zheleznyak, Sukhachov should be removed from office following the publication of the investigation. In addition, the MP called on the Verkhovna Rada to pass a bill as soon as possible to restructure the State Bureau of Investigations and hold a transparent competition for the position of the bureau’s new director.

“Sukhachev must be dismissed immediately,” the lawmaker emphasized.

Zheleznyak noted that he and his colleagues had registered the relevant bill last summer.

The lawmaker also called on participants in the evening protest to include posters demanding the dismissal of the SBI director among their demands.

The lawmaker made this statement on July 17 on his Telegram channel.

As a reminder, journalists from the projects “Slidstvo.Info” and the Anti-Corruption Center conducted an investigation into the real estate holdings of well-known Kharkiv businessman Oleksandr Sukhachev. The latter is also the brother of Oleksiy Sukhachov, director of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI). The investigation report details 143 (!) apartments and office spaces that he owns or has owned, and describes the circumstances under which they were acquired.
