A resident of Cherkasy will stand trial for shooting at minors

Police identified and arrested a 57-year-old resident of Cherkasy who opened fire in the middle of the street.

This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Police.

The man’s aggressive behavior was triggered by a domestic dispute with minors who were picking flowers near his home.

The incident occurred on May 9, but law enforcement authorities had not received any official complaints from witnesses or victims.

The police discovered a video recording of the incident while monitoring social media, after which they immediately launched an investigation and entered the data into the unified registry.

As the investigation revealed, the perpetrator initially tried to catch up with the children on his own. When that attempt proved futile, he returned to his home, retrieved a pistol, and fired several shots at the fleeing teenagers.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the chaotic shooting.

Officers from the Criminal Analysis Division thoroughly reviewed the CCTV footage, which allowed them to quickly identify the shooter and determine his place of residence.

During the course of investigative operations, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect and seized the weapon from him.

The pistol was sent for examination to determine its technical specifications and the legality of its possession.

Currently, an administrative report has been filed against the suspect under Article 173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses—“Minor Hooliganism.”

Police have already gathered the necessary evidence and forwarded the case materials to the court.
