Germany Wants to Expand Joint Production of Deep Strike Weapons with Ukraine — Pistorius
During his official visit to Kyiv, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a strategic expansion of defense cooperation.
This was reported by the German news channel n-tv.
A key focus of the partnership will be the development of state-of-the-art long-range unmanned systems capable of striking deep behind enemy lines.
Berlin views Ukraine as a strategic partner whose battlefield experience is invaluable for the development of European defense technologies.
According to Pistorius, the combination of German innovation and Ukrainian combat skills will strengthen the security of both countries and close critical gaps in NATO’s arsenal.
“Germany and Ukraine are strategic partners who both benefit from cooperation. The focus is on the joint development of state-of-the-art unmanned systems of all ranges, especially in the area of deep strike,” emphasized the head of Germany’s defense ministry.
Joint ventures established directly with the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex are to form the basis for this cooperation.
This approach will allow for the rapid implementation of technological solutions and the scaling up of weapons production.
The German side also plans to actively engage innovative startups through the Ukrainian platform Brave One.
Berlin is ready to provide financial and technical support to developers offering promising solutions in the field of unmanned aviation and electronic warfare systems.
During the talks, particular emphasis was placed on strengthening air defense.
Germany has already funded the purchase of hundreds of missiles for Patriot systems and confirmed an agreement to supply additional Iris-T launchers to protect Ukrainian airspace.
“At the same time, we benefit from the Ukrainians’ battlefield experience. This allows us to adapt our technologies more quickly to the demands of modern warfare,” noted Boris Pistorius.
Such knowledge exchange is critically important for the modernization of the Bundeswehr in the face of global threats.
