A resident of the Odesa region was sentenced to 10 years in prison for setting military vehicles on fire
A court sentenced a 23-year-old resident of the Odesa region to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property for committing a terrorist act and setting fire to a vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian military. Prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in court the guilt of the man, who agreed to carry out tasks for Russian special services in exchange for monetary compensation.
The investigation established that in late October 2024, the defendant found a job offer on Telegram channels and received instructions from his handlers regarding reconnaissance, camouflage, and the preparation of an incendiary mixture.
In one of the villages in the Odesa district, he set fire to a “Mitsubishi” vehicle used by the military, and later doused a village club building in the Usativska community with a flammable substance and set it on fire. The enemy used the video footage it obtained on its platforms to create a false impression of the alleged existence of an “underground” movement in the Odesa region.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect on October 27, 2024. Although the man did not admit his guilt in court, at the prosecutor’s request, he will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.
