Investigators are looking into the possibility that call centers were involved in the bombing of Vadim Yermolayev in Monaco
The explosion in the Principality of Monaco, which was an attempt on the life of businessman and former Ukrainian citizen Vadym Yermolayev, may have been linked to the activities of call centers. Investigators are currently considering this possibility, as reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko during a meeting with journalists. According to him, investigative measures are currently underway to identify those who ordered the crime and its accomplices, although the evidence gathered so far is insufficient to name new suspects.
Commenting on the possible connection to call centers, the prosecutor general noted: “This is one theory. His son, who ran these call centers… was wanted, then detained, and later entered into a plea agreement and compensated for the damages.” Law enforcement officials have already questioned the businessman himself, but the investigation has not yet established the definitive motives for the crime. Kravchenko emphasized that the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine are working together on the case, and that there is no pressure being exerted on the National Police.
Earlier, on July 3, Interpol issued an international arrest warrant in this case for 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovskaya, whom Monaco law enforcement suspected of planting an explosive device that resulted in serious injuries to Yermolayev and his relatives. Subsequently, Berezovska’s body was found in Ukraine, and the National Police, the SBU, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), and the Office of the Prosecutor General detained two individuals on suspicion of her murder—an employee of the GUR and a former SBU employee. Investigators believe the detainees were also involved in the attack in Monaco, as evidence of regular money transfers to her cryptocurrency and bank accounts has been uncovered.
As part of the investigation, on July 9, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv remanded former SBU employee Vitaliy Zhikovych—who is suspected of Berezovskaya’s murder—into custody without the right to bail. All information available to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies has been provided to the investigative authorities of the Principality of Monaco, with whom the Office of the Prosecutor General is working closely. In addition, SBU officers recovered video footage from a surveillance camera installed near the crime scene in Monaco to document the assassination attempt, and efforts to establish all the circumstances of the crime are ongoing.
