Journalists from BIHUS.Info have finally won their court case against former intelligence officer Semochko
Journalists from the investigative project BIHUS.Info have finally emerged victorious in their legal battle against Serhiy Semochko, the former first deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
The Supreme Court of Ukraine issued its final ruling, bringing an end to a legal saga that lasted more than seven years.
Throughout this time, the authors of the investigation and the media platform were under constant pressure, and their accounts and assets were repeatedly frozen.
The conflict began after the publication of a high-profile journalistic investigation in 2018, which exposed the high-ranking official’s vast wealth and connections.
At that time, the investigators revealed that the intelligence officer’s wife and closest relatives held Russian passports.
In addition, the Bihus.Info team uncovered a number of luxury properties in the prestigious village of Kozin near Kyiv, with a total estimated value of $8 million.
“We have finally won our case against former intelligence officer Serhiy Semochko in the Supreme Court. This case dragged on for a full seven years. During that time, Lesya, Denys, and Channel 24 had their bank accounts and property frozen, but now this saga is over,” Bihus.Info reported.
A key part of the published report was the allegations of corrupt pressure exerted by the Security Service of Ukraine on representatives of the pharmaceutical industry.
Journalists proved that economic counterintelligence had interfered in government procurement of life-saving medications for peritoneal dialysis.
According to official statements from drug suppliers, such actions by law enforcement agencies led to a prolonged disruption in drug supplies and the subsequent deaths of approximately 200 Ukrainian patients.
This was reported by the BIHUS.Info team on Facebook.
