During the nighttime drone attack on the Zhytomyr region, both Zhytomyr itself and a number of settlements in the region were hit, resulting in damage to civilian infrastructure, including sports and educational facilities, as well as non-residential buildings. Fires broke out at the impact sites, which were quickly extinguished by rescue workers operating under conditions of heightened danger and the risk of secondary strikes.
Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, reported on the consequences of the attack, noting that drone strikes hit not only the regional capital but also other districts of the region, indicating the widespread nature of the attack. He emphasized that civilian facilities were damaged, including infrastructure used for education and sports, which places an additional burden on communities that must now rebuild what was destroyed.
According to him, despite the scale of the strike, no reports of casualties have been received, which was a key positive development following the night’s events. Relevant services continue to work on the ground, documenting the extent of the damage and conducting initial restoration work, while investigative efforts are underway to establish the full picture of the attack and its consequences.
