A court has handed down prison sentences to eight individuals who fought on the side of the Russian Federation and aided the occupiers. They were found guilty of treason and collaboration and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported on Friday, May 1, by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Eight men who fought against Ukraine and worked for the occupiers received prison sentences. Following a public indictment by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court found them guilty of treason and collaboration and sentenced them to up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Between 2014 and 2025, residents of Donetsk, Luhansk, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and the Moscow Region of the Russian Federation voluntarily joined the armed formations of the aggressor state. Two of them signed contracts while serving time in penal colonies.
The convicts operated on various sections of the front line. They shelled the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces with artillery, including as part of a 2S1 “Gvozdika” self-propelled gun crew, controlled roads, fortified positions, and supplied units with ammunition. At the same time, they served at seized mines and industrial enterprises in Avdiivka, Yasynuvata, and Donetsk, supporting the functioning of the occupation infrastructure.
They were detained between March 2024 and December 2025 in the Bakhmut, Pokrovsk, and Kramatorsk sectors.
During his final statement in court, one of them did not admit guilt, declaring that he remains “Russian at heart” and is confident in the victory of the aggressor state.
