Journalists have identified 216,000 Russian citizens who died in the war

Since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, confirmed casualties in the Russian army have exceeded 216,000.

These figures are cited by the BBC Russian Service and Mediazona based on open sources.

The highest number of casualties has been recorded among residents of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan—more than 18,000 people in total. This figure already exceeds the Soviet Union’s losses during the entire war in Afghanistan.

The top five regions with the highest death tolls also include Sverdlovsk Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, and Chelyabinsk Oblast.

When considering the proportion of deaths relative to the male population, Tuva, Buryatia, and the Altai Republic have the highest rates. The lowest rates are in Moscow and Chechnya.

Since October 2024, the average number of confirmed Russian military casualties has been at least 120 per day.

The occupiers are shelling Vovchansk to capture the city and its surroundings, according to the "Forpost" brigade.

Ukrainian troops recently advanced in the Donetsk region. This refers to the area between Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka, where the Defense Forces were able to improve their positions.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Russian army has lost approximately 1,271,350 troops. In the last 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated another 950 occupiers.
