Drone attack on Ivano-Frankivsk: two dead, maternity ward damaged

On the afternoon of March 24, Russian forces attempted to attack Ivano-Frankivsk with a strike drone; the likely target was an administrative building.

This was reported by Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv.

The blast wave shattered windows in residential and civilian buildings across the city, including a maternity hospital and a perinatal center. During the air raid alert, two women were giving birth in the shelter of the medical facility—neither they nor their infants were harmed.

Meanwhile, according to updated data, two people were killed in the attack, and four others were injured, including a six-year-old child.

The city and regional maternity hospitals, as well as about ten other buildings, were damaged. Rescue workers and other emergency services are on the scene.

City authorities have promised to compensate residents for damages caused by the shelling. Regional Administration Head Onyshchuk noted that the strike hit the central part of the city.

On March 24, Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on western regions of Ukraine using kamikaze drones. In Lviv, one of the drones struck a building in the city center, causing a fire.

This attack was part of a large-scale air offensive by Russia that on March 24 targeted several regions of Ukraine, including critical infrastructure facilities in the rear areas.
