Russian Federation's attack on Zhytomyr: death toll rises to three

Three people were killed and another 53 were injured as a result of a Russian attack with jet-powered drones on Zhytomyr. Rescue workers are continuing recovery efforts.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that following the Russian strike the previous day, the death toll in Zhytomyr rose to three, and the number of injured to 53.

The death toll from yesterday’s Russian attack in Zhytomyr has risen to three, with 53 people injured, the State Emergency Service reported.

Rescuers, as noted, continue to work at the scene—the fire has been extinguished. Emergency restoration work is currently underway: emergency responders are dismantling damaged structures and surveying the scene. Rope-access rescue workers from the Cherkasy and Rivne regions have been deployed to assist with the efforts.

At the scene, aid stations have been set up by State Emergency Service specialists and representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross rapid response team. The World Central Kitchen team provided meals for the personnel.

“Work continued throughout the night. Repeated air raid alerts complicated the efforts,” the State Emergency Service noted.
