Power outages in eight regions due to Russian attacks — Ukrenergo
A massive missile and drone attack, along with systematic artillery shelling of energy infrastructure, has led to power outages in several regions.
As of the morning of April 16, residents of eight regions of Ukraine were experiencing power shortages, as officially reported by the national energy company Ukrenergo.
The damage spans both frontline territories and the country’s central regions.
Power restrictions have been reported in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions.
Energy workers have already begun emergency repair work at facilities where the security situation permits.
“Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore equipment damaged by the enemy as quickly as possible,” the agency’s press service emphasized.
Specialists are working around the clock to minimize the consequences of Russia’s terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure.
Despite technical difficulties, electricity consumption in the country continues to rise. As of 9:30 a.m. today, consumption figures were 2.4% higher than during the same period the previous day.
The main factor behind this strain on the system is the cloudy weather currently observed in most regions of Ukraine.
