General Nikoluk has been appointed commander of the Eastern Operational Command
Major General Viktor Nikoluk, a Hero of Ukraine, has taken command of the "East" Operational Command, replacing Brigadier General Dmytro Bratishko in that position.
Sources in military circles informed TSN about the personnel changes in the leadership of the Defense Forces.
Prior to this appointment, Nikoluk commanded the 20th Army Corps and had significant experience leading large formations in conditions of full-scale war.
Viktor Nikoluk is one of the most experienced combat officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose record includes commanding key defense sectors.
In particular, in 2021, he served as commander of the “North” Operational Command, where he faced the onset of a large-scale Russian invasion.
It was precisely for his outstanding contributions to defending the country’s territorial integrity that on March 10, 2022, he was awarded the highest state honor—the title of Hero of Ukraine.
The military career of the new head of the “East” Operational Command is also closely linked to the training of reserves and the combat coordination of units.
For a long time, General Nikoluk headed the 169th “Desna” Training Center named after Prince Yaroslav the Wise, where he implemented modern standards for training soldiers.
In addition, he served as commander of the renowned 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Cossack Ataman Ivan Sirko.
The previous commander of the “East” Operational Command, Brigadier General Dmytro Bratishko, is currently preparing to transition to another senior position within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The leadership change is taking place as part of a planned rotation of command personnel and the optimization of troop management on the eastern front.
