Chubarov called on Russians who had moved to Crimea to leave the peninsula
Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, called on Russian citizens who moved to the temporarily occupied Crimea after February 27, 2014, to leave the peninsula immediately.
According to Chubarov, the presence of such individuals in Crimea and their acquisition of property based on Russian documents are illegal under Ukrainian law and international law.
He stated that Russians who settled in the occupied territory after the annexation began have become complicit in the violation of international law by believing the Kremlin’s claims that Crimea belongs to Russia.
The head of the Mejlis also emphasized that Crimea has effectively become a frontline territory, and the process of liberating it from Russian occupation forces is inevitable. In this regard, he called on Russian citizens to leave the peninsula while they still have the opportunity to do so.
“Pack your things and return to your homeland now; later it will be too late,” Chubarov said.
