State Border Guard Service reports on the situation at the border with Russia

In Kharkiv region, intense fighting continues near Vovchanski Khutory, where a Russian assault attempt was successfully repelled. In the border areas of Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, Russian forces mostly carry out shelling, while infantry activity remains limited.

In certain directions, the enemy attempted assault operations, but all attempts were successfully repelled, with Russian forces suffering losses, according to Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS).

In Sumy region, the highest enemy activity is observed in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities, although no territorial advances have been recorded there.

In Kharkiv region, intense combat occurred near Vovchanski Khutory, where the assault was thwarted. On other sectors of Kharkiv region, Russian activity has declined, reportedly due to significant enemy losses.

“The enemy may still show activity in certain areas, but weather conditions also limit their ability to expand attacks along the border. Nevertheless, we must be prepared for any developments,” emphasized Demchenko.

Russia’s budget on the brink of collapse amid falling oil and gas revenues and war expenditures

After three years of unexpected economic growth, Russia is facing a sudden slowdown — war expenditures, inflation, and falling oil prices are now putting pressure on an economy that until recently seemed resilient to sanctions.

According to British intelligence, Russia’s demographic crisis is deepening due to the full-scale war against Ukraine, mass emigration, and heavy combat losses. Efforts by the Kremlin to boost birth rates are unlikely to halt the population decline in the near term.
