An energy truce with Ukraine is not on the table — Peskov
Russia is not currently engaged in substantive negotiations with Ukraine regarding a possible energy ceasefire. This was stated by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, Moscow believes that Kyiv is not proposing a full-fledged, long-term resolution to the war, but rather a cessation of attacks specifically on energy infrastructure. Peskov called the energy sector Ukraine’s “Achilles’ heel.”
At the same time, the Kremlin representative stated that Abu Dhabi remains one of the possible venues for future trilateral talks.
He said the UAE capital would be considered as a meeting place if the parties move on to substantive discussions about a settlement.
Peskov also assured that Russia’s conditions for ending the war have not changed and, in his words, are “well known.”
The Kremlin stated that it currently has neither a formal plan nor a “road map” for ending the war against Ukraine that Russia initiated.
The Kremlin stated that the U.S. must completely cease its aid to Ukraine if it wants a quicker end to the war. This demand was voiced by Vladimir Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov. At the same time, Moscow confirmed that during a phone call between Putin and Donald Trump on September 8, they discussed the war against Ukraine, but the Russian side did not report any specific agreements.
