The Hermitage has canceled all archaeological expeditions to occupied Crimea

The Russian Hermitage Museum has canceled all archaeological expeditions that were planned for the temporarily occupied Crimea. The museum cited the deteriorating security situation as the reason.

According to Alexander Butyagin, head of the Mirmekiya archaeological expedition, this year’s excavations have been moved to the Kuban region, as it is safer and easier to get there.

According to Russian media reports, the Hermitage’s website had listed nine archaeological expeditions planned for the territory of occupied Crimea.

Against the backdrop of Ukrainian strikes on Russian logistics and fuel infrastructure on the peninsula, there have recently been reports of gasoline shortages, power and water outages, as well as problems with public transportation. In addition, starting June 22, children’s summer camps in occupied Crimea, including “Artek,” have been suspended.

The Kremlin has issued guidelines on how to report on the gasoline shortage.

The fuel crisis is intensifying in Russia: gasoline is running out at gas stations and lines are growing.

Russia has allowed the use of lower-quality gasoline due to the fuel crisis.
