Photo: A Russian drone damaged the Skovoroda Museum in the Kharkiv region
On May 15, a Russian drone attacked the Hryhorii Skovoroda National Literary and Memorial Museum in the Kharkiv region. The strike damaged the protective shelter of the site, which is under UNESCO protection.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.
According to preliminary data, eight spans of the protective roof over the museum were damaged as a result of the attack. A significant hole was found in one of the spans, while seven others sustained damage from debris.
The ministry noted that the museum building itself and the roof’s load-bearing structures were not damaged. The consequences of the attack are being documented by police, rescue workers, and relevant experts.
The Ministry of Culture has already reported the damage to UNESCO. The Kharkiv Regional State Administration also plans to contact the organization regarding repair work.
In May 2022, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the Hryhorii Skovoroda Museum in the village of Skovorodynivka. Following this, international partners helped create a protective shelter for the monument.

As a reminder, 27 exhibits from the Hryhorii Skovoroda Museum have been restored in the Kharkiv region.
We have also previously reported that archaeological excavations in the ancient Roman city of Ossonoba in southern Portugal led to a fascinating discovery—the uncovering of three Roman tombs dating to the 5th or 6th century AD.
Earlier, just two steps away from Tutankhamun’s tomb, archaeologists unearthed the pyramid of an unknown ancient Egyptian queen, as well as a cache containing coffins, mummies, and artifacts.
