The night of March 23 turned into a true nightmare for the residents of Zaporizhzhia due to a massive attack by enemy drones.
One of the Shahed-type strike drones struck a residential apartment building directly, causing significant damage and a fire.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported on the critical situation in the regional center due to constant shelling.
According to him, a nighttime raid by Russian invaders proved fatal for one of the city’s high-rise buildings.
The explosion was so powerful that the fire instantly engulfed several floors of the building at the point of impact. The enemy drone’s strike on the apartment building was recorded at 2:41 a.m., causing panic among the civilian population.
State Emergency Service units quickly arrived at the scene and began firefighting and rescue operations.
Currently, rescuers are attempting to contain the flames and free people who may be trapped in their own apartments.
The head of the Regional Military Administration noted that as of 2:40 a.m., the attack was still ongoing, and the enemy continued to launch deadly missiles.
Reports are coming in of new fires and destruction, including serious damage to one of the city’s commercial buildings.
“The number of damages to various facilities is increasing as a result of the Russian Federation’s attack on Zaporizhzhia,” Ivan Fedorov emphasized in his official report.
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration has already released the first footage of the aftermath of the terrorist strike on the civilian sector.
The video shows the damaged walls of a building, shattered windows, and firefighters at work against the night sky.
According to preliminary data from medical services, at least three people were injured as a result of this cynical Russian attack.
As a reminder, Russian troops carried out another combined attack on Ukraine, using strike drones and cruise missiles.
Russia also launched a massive attack on the Odesa region, with one drone striking a bus stop.
