Kyiv police detain suspect in arson of soldier’s car
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have detained a 29-year-old man suspected of setting fire to the vehicle of a Ukrainian serviceman in the Obolonskyi district. This was reported by the Kyiv Police Communications Department.
According to investigators, the man acted on orders from Russian operatives, receiving instructions through a messenger app from a so-called “curator.”
The incident occurred on Obolonsky Avenue, where a Mitsubishi SUV caught fire. Emergency responders from the State Emergency Service arrived at the scene. Initial investigation revealed the car belonged to a serviceman currently on frontline duty.
Police found bottles containing flammable liquid at the scene, which became key evidence. Video surveillance helped identify the suspect. Investigators determined that he poured a flammable liquid on the hood and ignited it, then attempted to flee.
