President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Russia’s massive nighttime attack on Kyiv on July 6, during which the occupiers fired 68 missiles and deployed 351 attack drones. According to him, more than ten locations in the capital were damaged, including residential buildings, and efforts to address the aftermath of the shelling are ongoing.

“All necessary emergency services are on the ground, doing everything they can to save people and provide assistance to everyone who needs it. As of now, 64 people have been rescued, including two children. As of now, we know that, unfortunately, 11 people have died as a result of this attack. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones. Another 60 people or so have been injured.

In the Kyiv region, 16 people were injured and three people were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. In Vyshneve, a fire is still burning at the site of the missile strike. People are being evacuated from residential areas. More than 400 rescue workers and police officers have been deployed to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

Our soldiers achieved good results today in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but, unfortunately, not against Russian ballistic missiles. The reason lies precisely in the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles. It is crucial that the world—first and foremost the United States and our European partners—emerge from the NATO summit in Ankara with strong decisions to support our air defense and, consequently, the protection of ordinary people’s lives. As long as the missiles for the “Patriots” remain in our allies’ warehouses, this only encourages Russia to continue “targeting” residential buildings. The U.S. and Europe have enough power to stop this terror,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As a reminder, during the morning shelling on July 6, Russian terrorists struck the DAO sorting terminal of the “Nova Poshta” company in Dnipro. The strike caused a fire on the premises, which rescue workers quickly extinguished.

Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack.

So far, 11 deaths have been reported in Kyiv, and July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in the capital.

The Russians last launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of July 1. At that time, Russian forces launched 496 UAVs of various types and 74 missiles—air-, ground-, and sea-based—of various types at Ukraine.
