People have been killed in the Kyiv region as a result of an attack by the Russian Federation, and evacuations are ongoing
According to preliminary reports, three people were killed as a result of Russian shelling in the Kyiv region. Due to the risk of secondary detonation of explosive devices in Vyshneve, rescue workers and law enforcement officers have begun evacuating residents from the danger zone, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported on July 6.
“The situation in the Kyiv region is difficult; as of now, three people have been killed as a result of the shelling. In Vyshneve, due to the risk of secondary explosions, we have begun evacuating residents from the danger zone. More than 500 people have already been temporarily evacuated until cleanup operations are completed. We are also inspecting damaged private homes to ensure that no victims are overlooked.
In total, the Russian attack on Kyiv and the region has already claimed the lives of 14 people. The identification of the deceased is ongoing. Nearly 60 more residents were injured, including 5 children. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance.
Due to the danger to rescue workers, we have deployed robotic equipment and aircraft. K-9 units and bomb squads are also working on the ground. Police and State Emergency Service psychologists have already provided assistance to over 100 citizens. Mobile service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have begun operating in the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts of the capital—victims will be able to replace lost documents or have their vehicles, destroyed by shelling, written off free of charge.
“I thank every employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who is now standing by the people—those who have been wounded, lost loved ones, or been left homeless as a result of the Russian attack. Despite the risk to yourselves, at times like these, you are a vital source of support for thousands of others,” Klymenko said on Telegram.
As a reminder, during the morning shelling on July 6, Russian terrorists struck the DAO sorting terminal of the “Nova Poshta” company in Dnipro. The strike caused a fire on the premises, which rescue workers quickly extinguished.
Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack.
So far, 11 deaths have been reported in Kyiv, and July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in the capital.
The Russians last launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of July 2. At that time, Russian forces launched 496 UAVs of various types and 74 missiles—including air-, ground-, and sea-based missiles of various types—at Ukraine.
