The General Staff called September a record month for Russian military casualties in 2026
In September 2026, the Russian army suffered its heaviest losses since the beginning of the year, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over the course of the month, Ukrainian forces neutralized 46,230 Russian occupiers.
According to Ukrainian defenders, the September figure set an all-time record for the entire year of 2026.
Moreover, it even surpassed the recent peak figures from the summer campaign.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also disclosed the trend in Russian military casualties:
January — 31,710;
February — 26,090;
March — 31,960;
April — 32,980;
May — 33,760;
June — 39,290;
July — 42,860;
August — 42,020;
September — 46,230.
In other words, over the last 9 months of 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully neutralized 326,900 Russian invaders.
Interestingly, if we compare the enemy’s losses in January and September, we can see that they increased by 14,520 personnel—that is, by 45.8%.
As explained by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, these enemy losses prove that the Russian military command is unable to achieve its objectives on the battlefield. Furthermore, this also demonstrates the increasing accuracy and effectiveness of the Defense Forces’ firepower.
“Every attempt to put pressure on our positions results in disproportionate medical and irreplaceable losses for the enemy. We are grateful to each and every one of you for your resilience and professionalism,” the General Staff concluded.
