The General Staff confirmed the strike on the TANECO oil refinery in Tatarstan

On the night of August 10, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. A fire was reported on the refinery’s grounds following the strike, and the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk. The attack took place on the night of August 10. A fire was reported on the refinery’s grounds following the strike.

Currently, the Ukrainian military is assessing the specific damage sustained by the plant and the extent to which it has affected its operations. “TANECO” is a large oil refinery complex owned by the company “Tatneft.” The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products. The plant is of critical importance to Russia’s fuel industry.

Why Nizhnekamsk Is Important

Nizhnekamsk is one of Russia’s main centers for oil refining and petrochemicals. Several large enterprises operate in the city’s industrial zone. Among them are TANECO, TAIF-NK, and Nizhnekamskneftekhim.

This industrial zone has repeatedly been the target of drone attacks. For Russia, this area is important not only because of fuel production. It is also home to major petrochemical facilities that contribute to the Russian economy.

What Other Targets Did the Defense Forces Strike?

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces also struck several other Russian military facilities last night. Specifically, these included a repair unit in Khrustalnyi, Luhansk Oblast; a logistics depot in Novoselidivka; and a field artillery depot in Boyove, Donetsk Oblast. The General Staff also reported on the results of previous strikes against Russian targets.

What Was Damaged at the “Ilsky” Oil Refinery

Following the August 8 strike on the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai, the Ukrainian military confirmed damage to the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit. This is one of the key components of the oil refinery, where crude oil is converted into components for the further production of petroleum products.

Consequences of the strike on the airfield in Crimea

The General Staff also reported on the results of the August 3 strike on the “Gvardeyskoye” airfield in occupied Crimea. According to confirmed reports, nine horizontal tanks containing aviation fuel were destroyed there. Two additional hangars for aircraft were damaged.

Thus, the Ukrainian military continues to strike targets that are critical to Russia’s military and fuel infrastructure. Among the latest targets is the large TANECO oil refinery complex in Tatarstan; the extent of the damage is currently being assessed. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a reminder, a Russian attack on the Poltava region damaged a gas station and a factory.

In Dnipro on Friday, August 7, a World Health Organization humanitarian warehouse was destroyed as a result of an attack. There were no people on the premises at the time of the strike, and no casualties were reported.

Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers lost 1,130 troops and more than 400 pieces of military equipment.

In the Kherson region, one person was killed and two were wounded as a result of Russian shelling.
