The General Staff has confirmed strikes on the strategic Lukoil oil refinery and Russian military facilities
On the night of April 5, 2026, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a series of successful strikes against the aggressor’s critical infrastructure and military facilities.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of the key targets was the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the city of Kstovo. A massive fire broke out on the plant’s premises, and efforts to extinguish it are ongoing. This plant is strategically important because it supplies fuel to the Moscow region and meets the needs of the occupying forces, producing about 30% of all gasoline in the Russian Federation.
In addition to the Nizhny Novgorod region, other enemy logistics and military hubs were also targeted:
The port of Primorsk (Baltic Sea): a fire has been confirmed at the infrastructure of one of the Russian Federation’s largest hubs specializing in the transportation of petroleum products.
Saki Airfield (TOT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea): a warehouse storing aviation equipment was struck, significantly limiting the capabilities of enemy aviation in the southern region.
Concentrations of enemy forces: Firepower strikes were delivered against occupier positions in the areas of Berezove and Novomykolaivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Yalynske in Donetsk Oblast.
The production capacity of the struck Lukoil oil refinery is 17 million tons of raw materials per year, and its product range includes over 50 types of products, including aviation fuel. The destruction of such facilities directly impacts the logistics of the Russian military-industrial complex and the supply of fuel for equipment on the front lines. The General Staff notes that the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
Systematic attacks on the Russian oil industry are part of the Defense Forces’ strategy to deplete the aggressor’s resources. Similar strikes have previously been recorded at other facilities in the enemy’s energy system, forcing Moscow to seek alternative ways to supply the domestic market and the army. The successful destruction of targets deep within Russian territory demonstrates the growing technical capabilities of Ukrainian long-range weapons.
As a reminder, drones attacked oil infrastructure in the Leningrad region.
