The Main Intelligence Directorate released an intercepted conversation regarding the suicide of a Russian soldier
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has released an audio recording in which, according to the Directorate, a Russian servicemember reports the suicide of one of the occupiers with the call sign “Zmey.”
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the soldier in question was a member of the 1,461st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian occupation forces, who was stationed in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
In the intercepted conversation, the speaker reports that he discovered the soldier’s body with a gunshot wound and also mentions his intention to take the soldier’s weapon.
The Main Intelligence Directorate speculates that the Russian soldier was in a severe mental and psychological state. There is currently no independent confirmation of the authenticity of the released audio recording.

As a reminder, 279 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines over the past day. Russian troops launched one missile strike using four missiles, carried out 88 airstrikes, dropping 295 guided bombs, deployed 9,922 kamikaze drones, and carried out 3,148 shelling attacks on Defense Forces positions and populated areas, including 42 using multiple-launch rocket systems.
On the night of July 16, Russian terrorists fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv, resulting in fires at warehouses and non-residential buildings in two districts of the capital. There are also reports of casualties and injuries.
