Ignat commented on the data regarding radioactive components in Russian missiles

The Ukrainian Air Force has responded to reports of the possible presence of radioactive components in Russian missiles.

Yuriy Ignat, head of the Air Force’s communications department, stated that there is no need to panic over reports of radioactive components in weapons and urged people not to spread fear among the population. Earlier, reports emerged of elevated radiation levels detected on debris from an R-60 missile in the Chernihiv region.

According to Ignat, he was “surprised himself” when he read the news from the SBU. He explained that the R-60 air-to-surface missile has a core made of a standard alloy containing depleted uranium.

“It’s an alloy, and it contains depleted uranium… It’s a standard alloy used in this old Soviet missile,” he said.

Russia can produce up to 150 missiles per month — aviation expert.
