In the skies above Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, a fighter from the "Predator" Brigade's mobile fire team shot down a Russian drone carrying an incendiary mixture, known as a "dragon drone."
This was reported on Facebook by the "Predator" Brigade under the Ukrainian Patrol Police Department.
According to reports, Russian troops are using "Molniya" drones equipped with thermite or incendiary mixtures to burn anti-drone nets and Ukrainian positions.
While on duty, a soldier with the call sign “Django” spotted an unusual UAV in the air.
“At first, I didn’t understand what it was. We thought it was phosphorus. It was burning and leaving a trail behind it. It was the first time I’d seen something like that. I decided to shoot,” he said.
The soldier opened fire on the target and initially hit the pod containing the incendiary mixture, disrupting the drone’s mission. He then completely destroyed the drone itself.
According to the unit, this prevented damage to Ukrainian positions and the further spread of fire.
Over the past four months, Ukraine has significantly increased its effectiveness in shooting down Russian Shahed-type drones. According to Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the interception rate of enemy drones has doubled thanks to the development of a “small-scale” air defense system and the expanded use of interceptor drones.
