Power outages have occurred in several regions of Ukraine due to Russian shelling and severe weather

As of the morning of May 21, power outages affecting consumers have been reported in four regions of Ukraine due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and shelling of frontline areas.

This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo on Telegram.

Some consumers in the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions remain without power. Emergency repair work is ongoing where the security situation allows.

Separately, due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in six regions—Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk—more than 160 settlements were partially or completely left without power. According to energy officials, the most damage was recorded in the Vyshhorod, Bucha, and Boryspil districts.

As of 8:00 a.m., more than 18,000 households remained without power, and regional power company repair crews continue to restore the grid.

Ukrenergo also noted that electricity consumption had decreased by 2.9% due to clear weather in most regions and urged Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly during the evening hours from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

On May 20, Russian forces once again struck energy infrastructure in Odesa, leaving tens of thousands of households without power.

As a result of the new Russian attacks, as of the morning of May 20, consumers in six regions of Ukraine were left without power. In addition, due to heavy rains and thunderstorms, more than 30 settlements in three regions were partially or completely without power.

The Russian army launched another strike on civilian infrastructure in the Kherson region, using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
