Today, 30 December, Russian occupying forces struck Chornomorsk Port for the second time in one day. As a result of the shelling, a lubricant storage tank caught fire, but fortunately no one was injured. This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) on Telegram.

All emergency services are already working at the scene, with firefighting efforts and mitigation of the strike’s consequences ongoing. Boom barriers have been installed at several berths to prevent contamination of the port’s waters, and specialised vessels are on standby to collect pollutants should any enter the sea.

The USPA stressed that through such attacks Russia is attempting to destroy Ukraine’s logistical capabilities and export potential. However, despite the constant threat, Ukrainian ports continue to operate, supporting the economy and the export of goods.

“The enemy carried out a second strike on Chornomorsk Port today. As a result of the shelling, a lubricant tank caught fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” the USPA stated.
