RDK Commander Kapustin addressed the Russian people following the strike on a high-rise building in Kyiv

On May 19, Denis Kapustin, commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, released a video address to Russian citizens in front of a destroyed apartment building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. In his address, he stated that Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian cities would be met with a response, and he blamed the Russian leadership and Vladimir Putin for the escalation of the war.

The volunteer commander emphasized that the destroyed high-rise building in Kyiv is yet another direct proof of the Kremlin’s aggression against the civilian population.

“Right behind me is vivid evidence of that very aggression. A missile struck an ordinary residential building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. There were no military facilities here, no drone assembly workshops, or a hotel with Polish mercenaries, as Russian propaganda loves to claim. An ordinary residential building in an ordinary residential neighborhood of the Ukrainian capital. Yet the Russian Federation chose this building as a target, and the missile struck here. Women and children were killed,” Kapustin stated.

The RDK commander noted that retaliatory strikes on the aggressor country’s territory are a natural consequence of the Russian army’s actions, and that residents of Russia should get used to this new reality.

“A few days ago, hundreds of drones were launched from Ukrainian territory toward Russia; many of them reached their targets, and residents of the Moscow region were outraged that war had now reached them in their warm Moscow apartments. Unfortunately, only an escalation of this conflict awaits us. And for every strike the Russian Federation inflicts on peaceful Ukrainian cities, drones and missiles will fly in response from Ukrainian territory. Unfortunately, such are the laws of the aggressive war launched by the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin personally,” Denis Kapustin concluded.

As a reminder, on the morning of December 27, the “Russian Volunteer Corps” (RVC)—a unit formed of Russian citizens fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces—reported the death of its commander, Denis Kapustin, also known by the aliases Nikitin and White Rex.

Later, RVF commander Denis Kapustin revealed details of the staging of his “death.”
