Kremlin names key issue in negotiations with Ukraine
The Kremlin has stated that one of the “cornerstone” issues in negotiations with Ukraine is Kyiv’s refusal to join NATO and the existence of a corresponding document confirming this commitment.
This was reported by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, citing Russia’s state news agency TASS.
When asked who Russia would expect to provide a legally binding document confirming Ukraine’s non-accession to NATO, Peskov said that this aspect of potential peace talks is one of the fundamental issues.
“That is precisely why this issue requires special discussion alongside the main ones. This is what the negotiation process is about, which, I would like to emphasize once again, we do not want to conduct in a megaphone format,” the Russian leader’s spokesperson added.
Moscow has also expressed dissatisfaction with an updated U.S. plan aimed at ending the war.
