The Kremlin says it sees no grounds for a Zelensky–Putin meeting

In Moscow, officials do not see any concrete steps from Kyiv to organise a meeting between the President of Ukraine and the Russian leader.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, according to Russian state-controlled media.

He also commented on the possibility of a trilateral summit involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. According to Peskov, such a meeting could only take place to finalise agreements that have already been reached.

“As for the prospects of organising a meeting between the President of Russia and Zelensky, for now, let us simply recall his statements over the past week.
What Ukraine will never agree to, what it will not accept, what it intends to do next, and so on.
These do not even need to be analysed — one just needs to recall them and ask: is there any point at the highest level if the ‘Kyiv regime’ still maintains such a position?” Peskov said.

He added that he considers territorial issues the most complex.
“Apparently, yes, the territorial question is the most difficult, and, of course, any serious meetings must be preceded by very thorough work at the expert level.
As for the ‘Kyiv regime’, I think they are currently putting all their efforts not into finding options for a peaceful settlement, but into finding ways to access European funds.
They want to obtain these hundreds of billions of euros not by hard work, but by other means. This is what they are seriously working on. We do not yet see seriousness in their approach to other issues,” Peskov said.

Background

U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Stephen Biegun believes in the potential for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which would address issues including territory and security guarantees.

It should be recalled that the Kremlin has stated that Russia has not yet achieved all of its goals in the war against Ukraine.

According to Kyrylo Budanov, negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are approaching the point where the parties will have to make final decisions.
U.S. President Donald Trump, at the first session of the “Peace Council”, said that Russia’s war against Ukraine, which he called “the harshest”, is approaching resolution.
