Almost 185,000 Ukrainians have contacted the Red Cross searching for missing relatives

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, nearly 185,000 citizens have turned to the Ukrainian Red Cross (URC) tracing service.

The URC reported this on Facebook. According to the organisation, since 2022, 184,662 initial requests concerning missing persons have been processed.

To date, work on 3,046 cases has been completed, and in 2,525 instances the fate of the missing individuals was successfully established.

The Restoring Family Links team maintains constant contact with families who have opened search cases and supports them throughout the entire process.

Specialists and volunteers help fill out applications, provide psychosocial support, guide people to competent institutions, and act as intermediaries between families and government agencies.

Additionally, the organisation runs programmes to help families socialise and cope with difficult circumstances.

For context, the Red Cross also responded to strikes in Belgorod region. Meanwhile, international donors continue to fund the Russian Red Cross.
