Nearly half of Estonians blame Russia for the drone incidents

About 45% of Estonian residents believe that Russia is responsible for the drone incidents in the country’s airspace. This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the polling firm Emor.

According to the survey, 57% of respondents said that the appearance of drones has increased their anxiety about their own safety and that of their loved ones. At the same time, 36% do not feel concerned, and another 7% were undecided.

Additionally, 44% of respondents believe that claims about Estonia allegedly using its airspace to launch strikes against Russia are part of Russian disinformation. Thirty-one percent of those surveyed disagreed with this.

In addition, 67% of Estonian residents stated that they know how to respond to a threat from drones, while 23% admitted that they do not have a plan of action.

The survey was conducted June 9–15 among 1,319 Estonian residents aged 15 and older.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Estonia signed a joint declaration on strengthening cooperation in the fields of security and defense, which provides for expanded collaboration in air defense, the defense industry, and the exchange of expertise. Separately, the parties discussed support for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and the path toward EU membership.

Estonia has begun installing the first stationary systems to track drones along the border with Russia. The devices are already operational in several areas and are set to become part of a large surveillance network across the country. This is part of a gradual effort to strengthen control over airspace in border regions due to the growing risk of incidents involving drones.
