Massive shelling: what exactly the enemy was targeting

During the large-scale missile and drone attack on December 23, Russian forces attempted to strike both electricity generation facilities and power distribution and transmission networks. As a result of the strikes, damage to energy infrastructure was recorded.

This was reported by Oleksandr Havva, CEO of Market Operator JSC, during a broadcast of the national telethon.

According to him, hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles were used during the attack across Ukraine. He emphasized the effective work of air defense systems, while acknowledging that some enemy strike assets managed to reach their targets.

As a result, the Rivne region was completely left without electricity by the morning of December 23. A significant number of consumers in the Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions were also left without power.

Due to damage to energy facilities across the country, emergency power outages were introduced. As of the evening, these outages were still in effect in certain regions of Ukraine.

Russian forces additionally attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with FPV drones and artillery.
