Medvedev stated that Russia no longer has any restrictions regarding Ukraine
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, stated on June 19 that, following Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory, Moscow allegedly no longer needs to abide by any rules in its actions against Ukraine. He also stated that international norms of warfare have supposedly lost their relevance for Russia.
Amid reports of drone strikes on Russian cities, Medvedev declared the need to abandon any restrictions regarding Kyiv.
“Given the enemy’s massive terrorist attacks on our cities, the intensity of which is increasing and will obviously continue to increase, it is time to openly declare that there are no longer—and cannot be—any rules regarding neo-Nazi Kyiv,” he wrote on the Russian messaging app “Max.”
According to Medvedev, the only restriction for Russia should supposedly remain “the deliberate killing of civilians.” At the same time, he stated that the Hague Conventions on the laws and customs of war are “no longer necessary.”
The Russian official’s statements came amid regular attacks by Ukrainian drones on military and industrial targets within Russian territory. Moscow traditionally labels such strikes as “terrorist,” while Ukraine emphasizes that they are a response to Russian aggression and are directed against targets that support the aggressor country’s military capabilities.
On the night of June 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of Russian military facilities. Among the targets was a bridge near Henichesk, which the occupiers use to transport equipment and resupply their troops between occupied Crimea and the southern front.
In Taganrog, Russia, a power substation that supplied electricity to the “Atlant-Aero” defense enterprise was damaged. As a result, production lines involved in the manufacture of drones were disrupted.
