The Russian Ministry of Defense has released the latest statistics on the interception of airstrikes, claiming to have intercepted over a thousand unmanned aerial vehicles, aerial bombs, and two new-model long-range missiles during the massive attack on May 17.

According to the invaders, air defense units allegedly destroyed a “Flamingo” cruise missile and a “Neptune-MD” guided missile—the so-called long-range Neptune. This was reported by TASS. Official representatives of the aggressor country are attempting to shift the focus to their own successes after the Moscow region experienced the largest drone attack since the beginning of this year.
The Ukrainian side has not yet officially commented on reports regarding the combat use of these types of missile weapons over the past 24 hours. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed successful strikes by “Flamingo” long-range systems against enemy strategic facilities deep in the rear earlier this May. Despite attempts by Russian propagandists to assure the public that the situation is fully under control, independent analysts note the record scale of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ nighttime operation, which led to significant overload of enemy systems and the destruction of specific military targets.
On the night of May 17, a number of Russian military-industrial complex and energy facilities were struck in Moscow and the Moscow region. Strikes were carried out on an oil depot in Durikino, an oil refinery in Kapotnya, the Angstrom microelectronics plant, and the Raduga Design Bureau, which develops cruise missiles.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed that the massive attack on the Moscow region on the night of May 17 was carried out by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. The head of state called the special operation an entirely justified response to the ongoing armed aggression and daily aerial terror against civilian settlements.
