Russian saboteurs abandoned attempts to infiltrate Chernihiv region

As of now, no attempts at attacks by Russian troops or infiltrations by sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been recorded in the Chernihiv sector. At the same time, Russia maintains certain forces near the Ukrainian border, and the possibility of provocations or a feigned offensive cannot be completely ruled out.

According to him, no activity by Russian infantry units or sabotage and reconnaissance groups is currently being observed along the section of the state border guarded by State Border Guard Service units.

“As of now, speaking specifically about the section of the state border defended by our units, fortunately, there have been no enemy actions involving the use of infantry groups or sabotage-reconnaissance groups attempting to enter our territory to lay mines or even launch attacks on our positions,” Demchenko noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian army has a certain concentration of forces opposite the Chernihiv region on Russian territory. However, it is up to military command to assess whether the enemy is building up its forces for a possible offensive.

Demchenko also warned that even without a significant troop buildup, Russia could resort to simulating offensive actions to force the Ukrainian Defense Forces to redeploy additional reserves to the Chernihiv sector.

“Because we cannot rule out the possibility that even without, for example, a sufficiently large force, the enemy may attempt to simulate an offensive in order to get our defense forces to redeploy additional troops here, thereby weakening more critical sectors where more active combat operations are taking place,” emphasized the State Border Guard Service spokesperson.
