There were 41 combat engagements on the front lines: where the heaviest fighting took place

Since the start of the day on April 5, 2026, Russian troops have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 41 times, focusing their main efforts on the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk directions. 

According to a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 4:00 p.m., the enemy also actively used artillery to shell the border areas of Sumy Oblast, specifically the settlements of Bachivsk, Volfyne, and Ryzhivka. In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, 34 shelling incidents were recorded, one of which was carried out using multiple launch rocket systems.

The most difficult situation is observed in the Kostiantynivka sector, where the invaders carried out 12 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, and other settlements, with two firefights still ongoing. In the Pokrovsk direction, 11 attempts were recorded to push back Ukrainian troops in the areas of Pokrovsk, Udachne, and Rodynske. In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army attempted three times to improve its tactical position near Novoosynove, while in the Lyman and Sloviansk directions, it did not conduct any offensive operations.

In the southern sectors of the front, the Defense Forces successfully repelled four attacks in the Huliaipole sector, despite a series of enemy airstrikes on the Zaliznychne and Novoselivka areas. In the Dnipro sector, the occupiers twice unsuccessfully stormed positions near Bilohrudyi Island and the Antonivsky Bridge. In the Orikhiv direction, no active assaults were recorded, though enemy aircraft attacked Komyshuvakha. In other sectors of the front, no significant changes in the situation or enemy advances were detected. 

Ukrainian defense forces are adjusting military training to effectively counter enemy drones and modern threats on the battlefield.

Also, on the night of April 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly three hundred drones. Air defense forces neutralized 260 of them. At the same time, hits and falling debris were recorded in several regions. 

In the Kherson region, one person was killed and 25 others were wounded in Russian attacks over the past 24 hours. Kherson and dozens of settlements in the region came under fire.
