279 clashes on the front line in the past day: General Staff names the hottest directions
The 1,437th day of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has begun.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 08:00 on 30 January, a total of 279 combat engagements were recorded along the front line over the past 24 hours.
The most intense fighting took place in several areas in the east and south, where the enemy attempted to intensify assault operations. Ukrainian units are holding the line and delivering counterstrikes.
According to updated data, Russian forces carried out 41 air strikes, dropping 123 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy used 5,583 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,802 shelling attacks on the positions of Ukraine’s Defence Forces and populated areas, 144 of them using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Settlements in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions were among those hit by air strikes using guided bombs.
The General Staff notes that the enemy continues to combine aircraft, UAVs and artillery in an effort to wear down Ukraine’s defences.
Over the past day, Ukrainian missile forces and artillery struck an area where enemy personnel were concentrated. They also hit eight ground-based UAV control stations and seven enemy command posts.
These strikes reduce the enemy’s ability to coordinate attacks and to employ drones on a large scale along the front line. At the same time, the situation in key directions remains tense.
In the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks. The enemy carried out 75 shelling attacks, five of them using MLRS.
In the South Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted 17 assaults in the areas of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Tykhe, and nearby directions.
In the Kupiansk direction, 12 attacks were recorded. Defence Forces repelled assaults near Borivska Andriivka, on the approaches to Kupiansk, and near several surrounding settlements.
In the Lyman direction, 13 attacks were reported, with the enemy attempting to advance near Drobysheve, Stepiv and Zarichne.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped seven attempts by the enemy to advance near Yampil and adjacent approaches.
No offensive actions were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction, although tension remains due to artillery strikes and UAV activity.
In contrast, in the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 19 attacks, attempting to apply pressure across several sections simultaneously.
The Pokrovsk direction is highlighted by the General Staff as one of the hottest areas. Ukrainian units repelled 87 assault and offensive actions by the enemy.
Attacks were recorded near several settlements, including areas close to Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk, as well as on the approaches to other villages and towns within the sector. The enemy attempted to attack in waves but suffered losses and was forced to withdraw. Fighting remains highly intense due to constant Russian attempts to identify weak points in the defence.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attacked Defence Forces’ positions 23 times, attempting to expand the pressure zone.
In the Huliaipole direction, 42 attempts to advance were recorded, with the enemy actively seeking to break through Ukrainian defensive lines.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two attacks, while in the Dnipro (Prydniprovske) direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful offensive attempt.
No signs of the formation of offensive groupings were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
As previously reported, Ukrainian forces eliminated more than 1,300 occupiers over the past day.
It was also reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine intercepted an order from Russian commanders instructing the killing of wounded personnel.
