A serviceman, futsal player, and teacher from Rivne, Eduard Petryk, was killed on the front line
Ukrainian serviceman, futsal player, and teacher Eduard Petryk from Rivne was killed on the front line on January 10 near Novoserhiyivka in the Izium district of Kharkiv region.
The Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports of Ukraine reported that Petryk was born in Rivne and had chosen sports as his professional path from childhood. He was a graduate of FC Veres, played for futsal teams in Rivne, and worked as a qualified physical education teacher.
In May 2025, Petryk joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as a sniper in military unit A4638 and carrying out combat missions on the front line. He was 37 years old at the time of his death.
The farewell ceremony took place on January 21 at Independence Square in Rivne, and he was buried in the village of Veresneve, Rivne district.
Earlier, Ruslan Nadych, a soldier of the 17th Special Purpose Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was killed in an attack by Russian forces on a passenger train at Barvinkove station.
