Two soldiers were killed in the Khmelnytskyi region while repelling a drone attack
In the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two servicemen and the injury of another while they were carrying out a combat mission to counter enemy drones.
This was reported by the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigation in Khmelnytskyi.
The tragedy occurred on May 27 at approximately 11:15 a.m. in one of the villages of the Dunayevetska territorial community in the Kamyanets-Podilskyi district.
According to preliminary information, an explosion of an interceptor drone’s ammunition occurred while attempting to repel an attack by Russian drones. As a result of the detonation, two soldiers were killed on the spot, and another was wounded and hospitalized. Medical personnel report that his life is currently not in danger.
The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) noted that investigators have already seized remote controls and communication devices for forensic analysis. Law enforcement officials are determining the causes of the sudden detonation of the explosive device.
Preliminary criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 3 of Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of rules for handling weapons and hazardous substances, resulting in the death of several persons or other serious consequences.
The Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Western Region is overseeing the proceedings in this case.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, two women were injured as a result of Russian attacks on May 28. According to the Regional Military Administration, over the past 24 hours, occupying forces carried out 689 strikes on 40 settlements in the region. The women, aged 58 and 65, sustained injuries.
On the night of May 28, Russian occupiers carried out another attack with strike drones on the southern part of the Odesa region. As a result of the enemy shelling, a private residential building and an infrastructure facility were damaged.
In Kherson, a woman was injured as a result of another Russian shelling of the Korabelny district. She was hospitalized in serious condition.
Over the past day, 13 civilians were injured due to Russian attacks in the Sumy region. Dozens of settlements in the region came under fire, and Russian drones attacked civilian vehicles, homes, and farms.
