In the Kyiv region, bomb disposal experts defused the warhead of a rocket that had become lodged in a residential building in Chabany

In the village of Chabany in the Kyiv region, rescue workers carried out a complex operation to clear a multi-story residential building of debris after it was struck by fragments of a Russian missile during a nighttime attack on May 14.

This was reported by the Kyiv Regional State Emergency Service.

Miraculously, the munition did not detonate inside the building, which prevented widespread destruction and casualties among residents.

According to rescue workers, rocket debris struck several apartments on different floors. On the second and third floors, State Emergency Service bomb disposal units, working with local services, removed the dangerous fragments using specialized equipment.

The most dangerous situation arose on the first floor, where an unexploded warhead remained inside a residential unit. It posed a critical threat to the entire building.

State Emergency Service specialists carried out a complex and high-risk operation during which the explosive element was carefully removed and transported for subsequent disposal under safe conditions.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of bomb disposal experts and rescue workers, the munition was safely neutralized,” the State Emergency Service noted.

Emergency services are currently continuing to work at the scene. Law enforcement officials are documenting the aftermath of the attack as further evidence of Russia’s war crimes against the civilian population of the Kyiv region.

As a result of the Russian attack on the Kyiv region on May 14, seven people were injured, including a three-year-old child. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the region.
